Most smoke alarms are chosen on function alone and tolerated on looks. The FireHawk Midi takes a different approach it's small enough that you'll barely notice it protecting you, which makes it a natural fit for hallways, landings and living rooms where a bulky alarm would stand out.

Behind the slim profile is proper detection technology. TSE-Technology (Thermal Stability Enhancement) keeps performance stable across a range of environmental conditions, reducing nuisance alarms while enhancing genuine detection — so the alarm is far less likely to be set off by a hot shower or a slightly overdone dinner, and far more likely to be trusted when it does sound. An alarm that never cries wolf is an alarm that never gets taken down off the ceiling.

Day-to-day operation is deliberately simple. A large combined test and silence button makes routine testing easy, and quickly quietens the alarm in non-emergency situations. An end of alarm life indication tells you when the unit needs replacing, and the batteries are user-replaceable.

Where to Fit It

Bedrooms, hallways and landings, and living areas. As a guide, fit at least one alarm on every storey of the home, and site units on the ceiling in the centre of a room or circulation space wherever possible.

Optical or Heat?

Optical alarms like the Midi respond quickly to the slow, smouldering fires typical of soft furnishings, bedding and electrical faults which is why they're recommended for living areas and escape routes. Kitchens and garages, where cooking fumes and dust cause frequent false triggers, are better served by a heat alarm.
