AFDDs detect series and parallel arc faults caused by damaged cables, loose terminations and deteriorated insulation, conditions that MCBs and RCDs alone cannot see. BS 7671 recommends AFDDs for final circuits supplying socket outlets up to 32A, and they are commonly specified in sleeping accommodation, HMOs and buildings of combustible construction. The MAFDD102530B fits all FuseBox consumer units and TPN boards and can replace a FuseBox RCBO where arc protection is needed. At 25A it is typically used on larger radial circuits, hobs and supplies to small outbuildings. Final device selection should always follow the circuit design, cable size, installation method and fault level of the installation.
