The BG 9BTS/1-0J is a single secondary telephone socket, also called an extension or slave socket, from the square edge 900 Series. It carries a phone line on from the master socket to another room.

Its screw terminals clamp the cores with an ordinary screwdriver, which suits DIY extensions and replacing an old socket. It is made to BS 6312-2 and fits a single back box of at least 35mm at 60.3mm centres. If you prefer punch down terminations, the 9BTSI/1-0J is the IDC version. Many UK lines now carry calls over the broadband router, so check how the property's phone service is delivered before wiring extensions. See our white plastic switches and sockets.
