Visitors use the telephone entry system to call the appropriate occupant, allowing communication before access is granted. Residents, tenants, staff and other authorised users can gain convenient keyless entry by presenting a compatible proximity key fob to the integrated reader.

The system incorporates the compact Bell BPR proximity reader, based on MIFARE 13.56MHz tag technology and capable of identifying up to 1,000 fob users. Validation and voiding of users' key fobs is achieved through Bell's shadow fob system with Bell Custom Security Coding. The BPS-5 is configured as a five-way audio door-entry system, making it suitable for a shared entrance serving five separate flats, offices or other internal users.

Visitors use the external entrance panel to call the required occupant. The appropriate resident or member of staff can then communicate with the visitor through their internal Bell 801 telephone before deciding whether to grant entry.
