Kitchen protection that sounds every alarm in the house, without running a single cable.

A heat alarm on its own only warns whoever is standing nearby. That is a real weakness in the room where most domestic fires start, because a kitchen fire that begins at night gives the least warning to the people who need it most. The FireHawk FHH10-RF fixes that by linking wirelessly to the rest of your alarms. When it detects a fire in the kitchen, every connected alarm in the property sounds at the same time, including the ones on the landing and in the bedrooms.

Detection is by advanced thermistor sensing controlled by bespoke software, which responds to rising room temperature rather than airborne particles. That is what makes it the correct choice for kitchens, garages, workshops and boiler rooms, where cooking steam, dust and fumes would trigger a smoke alarm constantly.

It is compatible with the full FireHawk RF-Link range, covering Smoke Alarms (FHB10-RF), Heat Alarms (FHH10-RF), CO Alarms (CO10-RF), the RF-Link Module for Mains Alarms (FHN600RF) and the Hard of Hearing Alarm (FHN800HIA). Up to 20 RF-Link alarms can be linked in a single system, reducing to a maximum of 15 when an FHN800HIA is included. Because the RF-Link module also retrofits to mains alarms, you can extend an existing hardwired system rather than replacing it.

Installation is straightforward. The Auto Switch Mounting Plate powers the alarm on when it is attached and off when it is removed, and pairing is done by pressing the test buttons in sequence rather than through an app or a hub. An extra large test button makes weekly checks easy, an alarm silence button handles non emergency situations, and the low battery warning can be silenced for up to 10 hours to maintain continuous protection through the night. A red LED flashes once a minute to confirm power and flashes constantly to indicate an alarm condition.

Supplied with a 7 year warranty on a 10 year life alarm. Approved to BS 5446-2:2003.

Where to Fit It

Heat alarms suit kitchens, boiler rooms, workshops and garages. Mount on the ceiling and never on a wall, siting the alarm at the highest point on apex or sloping ceilings. Keep it clear of extractor fans and vacuum with a soft brush every six months to keep dust off the sensor.

Pairing

Press the test button on any assembled alarm to enter linking mode, then press the test button on the next alarm and wait a few seconds for it to beep and stop flashing. Repeat for each alarm, then wait 20 seconds or press the test button on the first alarm to exit linking mode. Test from every alarm in the system afterwards to confirm each one is linked.

Building the System

The FHH10-RF is designed to work as part of a set rather than on its own. A typical two storey home uses RF-Link smoke alarms on the hallway and landing, this heat alarm in the kitchen, and a CO alarm wherever there is a boiler or flue. All three link together and are fitted in an afternoon with no electrician.
