What is an alarm dialer and how does it work?
An alarm dialer is a device that automatically calls or sends messages to pre-set phone numbers when a connected alarm is triggered. It acts as a communication bridge between your alarm system and you (or keyholders, or emergency services). It makes sure that you’re notified immediately if there’s a break-in or fire. Most dialers work by either connecting to a landline (PSTN) or using a GSM mobile signal with a SIM card. Then the alarm dialer is triggered, it sends a pre-recorded message, text, or both. Some modern dialers can integrate with an app for real-time notifications and remote control.
Can an alarm dialer be added to an existing alarm system?
Yes, most alarm dialers can be retrofitted to compatible existing alarm panels. As long as your alarm system has a trigger output (usually a relay or contact that closes during an alarm event), you can connect a dialer to it.
