Don't be confused:

We all know that filling up a car with petrol or diesel is easy, as we do it so often that we've been accustomed to it. However, when it comes to charging an electric car, many people become confused due to the different connectors, compatibility requirements, and variable costs involved in charing an electric car.

The truth is that electric car charging doesn't need to be confusing, and the more you do it, the more you will understand the process. In time, dare we say, it will become just as easy as filling your vehicle with fuel.

How to charge your electric car:

Firstly, there are a number of ways that you can currently charge an electric vehicle; these are at home, at work, or at a public charging point. However, we are going to focus on home charging, as that is where the fantastic range of Project EV and Masterplug products come into their own.

Although it might take a little time to get used to, you will soon become accustomed to charging your electric car at night in the same way that you would charge your mobile phone. If you want a 'full tank' for the morning, you just need to plug your vehicle into the charge point and you will be good to go by morning.

Also, it is possible to charge your vehicle using a regular domestic 3 pin socket, but we would strongly recommend using a dedicated EV charger, such as the ones available by both Project EV and Masterplug.

Why use a EV charger?

Simply put, they provide a higher amount of power - usually around 7kW - whereas using a standard domestic 3 pin socket to 10A or less, which equates to a maximum of 2.3kW. This means that using a dedicated EV charger will ensure that your vehicle is fully charged around three times faster, thus allowing you to head out in your car or bike in a shorter amount of time.

When you also add in the fact that home EV chargers are also much safer, due to them being designed to deliver a higher amount of power over long periods of time, it is clear why electric car chargers are becoming increasingly popular. In fact, as more of us own electric vehicles, it won't be too long before everyone has their own EV charger at home, changing the way in which we 'fuel' our cars forever.
